I am so happy to finally announce one of my biggest and proudest accomplishments in my career and in technology. I was part of @Google new launch for #ImageEquity yesterday at #GoogleIO for the world to see. As a previous organizer, there was always so much work centered on equity and representation in not just media but classrooms, board meetings, corporate, etc. When @Floriankoenigsberger @creativetheoryagency reached out and told me about his vision for #ImageEquity my mind was blown away. As a photographer, photographing darker skin tones hasn’t always been an easy process in Pre/Post production. Historically cameras have always been built to photograph white folks or folks with lighter skin tones better than subjects with darker skin complexions. I am so honored to have been part of a mission to better cameras that accurately and indiscriminately represent everyone. However, most importantly this work could have not been done without commUNITY, love, inclusivity, and a passion for equity. Thank you @Floriankoenigsberger and our team of experts so much for their hard work and dedication to such important work that is going to change the way we document people of color across the world. I want to thank all of my subjects, friends, and family who have been a huge part of my success in this project. I could have not done this without ANY OF YOU. No matter how big or small your contribution was, we made history and I can never repay you guys for the love and work you have put into this with me. I want to give a special shout out to my right hand @dvnielhermosillo for their support towards my work and for holding this day down with me. You deserve the world and I’m thankful that you share all that talent and kindness with me. I cant wait to see these new improvements on all @Google @Android cameras! We created better and a more fair image experience for millions of people of color around the word. There is still so much work to do and we just got started!
